Vanke Kindergarten Shenyang

This is a small kindergarten with four classrooms. The play and nap rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor due to several site constrains. Below them are an administration and kitchen area. The entrance of the kindergarten extends to the south and forms the main indoor space, dividing the courtyard into two parts, the entrance zone to the west and the play field to the east. The fitness club annex encloses the outdoor play area, significantly reducing the noise pollution that could potentially affect the surrounding apartments and central green. Window wood screens are used to express materiality, while also casting interesting shadow patterns in the interior and play yard.
